The guy who does our fire extinguishers at work has been a few times. Really likes it. He's also done Auschwitz and the salt mine cathedral in that order. He said you need something to lift you after Auschwitz because the sights from inside the gas chamber haunts you.

It's not a theme park, but you really should go to Auschwitz, it's when you think it's within living memory it really brings it home, we must never let the atrocities be forgotten. I can't forget it, I share a birthday with when it was liberated.

Went quite a few years ago now but its a great place. We stopped in an apartment above a Cafe which was about 10mins walk to the main square. We went in November so it was cold but wrapped up and it was nice cold as it was dry so it was fine. There is a park that runs round the main centre of Krakow called "Planty Park" and the main bits are within that plus you can walk round a good chunk of it. There are some very good bars and restaurants in the square or you can save a few quid, not that it was that expensive on the square, by going down one of the many lanes that run off the square.

We also went to Auschwitz on a tour that we booked before we got there. It meant we got a minibus there and back from our apartment plus a guide whilst we were there. Its hard to describe the experience as it doesnt seem right to describe it as good or similar so i just have to say its something i'm glad i've done. We went over to the second camp as part of our trip which included the actual gas chambers and the fact it was so cold just made you realise the horrors more somehow. Everyone on our group was freezing but it didnt seem right to say anything and complain about it when you consider what went off there. We also went down to where Schindlers factory was in Krakow and a walk round that area which was very good as well.

Right guys, just got back tonight and i have to say it was AMAZING !!

Cheap beer and food which was great but also done Auschwitz guided tour, the Schindler museum and had a good skeg round the Jewish quarter and ghetto. Done the Auschwitz tour with a company called Krakow Direct and i can't fault them, pick up and drop off from the hotel as well as the airport transfers, they are spot on. Done the whole city on foot including Wawel castle. I was that impressed i am gonna take my Son.

Loads of underground bars cheap as chips as well as the Irish bars that are a bit more expensive but still around 50% cheaper than the UK.
