Hi all, for some reason i just love insignia's , so thought i would join up with the rest of the loonies on here (we must all have something wrong with us) joking apart and no offence meant to anyone (just in case). over the last 2 yrs i have bought 6 insignia's 2.0 cdti's, from 09 plate sri to 11 plate elite ecoflex, all with seized engines, its been a learning curve and sometimes i question why, but when i have rebuilt the engine and got them back up to scratch and i am cruising down the motorway or stuck in the invariable traffic jams in my town, i just cant stop feeling smug cos i think personally that they are as good as any other car out there, comfortable and when running right you aint getting a more economical 2 litre diesel (45 - 50 mpg urban, 65 -70 mpg motorway). i am self taught from the age of 16 when i put a gearbox in a Marina and tinkered with the escort mk 2's and the capris, cortinas and grenadas , most will be scratching there heads wondering what they were!!! A lot as changed mainly with all the emissions crap that is on a car these days but basically engines are still just engines, and for me there is something satisfying in taking something broken and re building it to its original (better sometimes) condition. I dont know everything, and i am the sort of person who needs something in front of them to be able to start solving problems (to many probabilities to guess things, i have learnt over time) and there is always a problem you have never come across before but will always try and help out if i can
