  • Turbo not spooling up :(

Vauxhall Insignia 4x4 2.0 petrol turbo.

So, I've had a problem with my turbo for a few weeks. When I start the car and drive off the turbo works fine for a couple of gear changes but then stops working until the car is switched off. When i use use a fault reader it says "wastegate Solenoid". So I changed the solenoid and cleared the fault codes, but the problem is still there with the same fault code returning. The vacuum hoses and boost pipe are all fine and the turbo its self seems mechanically sound. One mechanic has said it may need to go back to Vauxhall main dealer to get the ECU updated. Does this sound right? Sounds expensive! Is there anything else you fine fellows can think of?

    Thank you

Just read about Vauxhall updating ECU's due to a problem with the EGR valve. Would the EGR valve stop the turbo from working??

Are you sure it has an EGR

            I'm really not

The car has been to 3 different mechanics now and it's really causing me pain. Nobody seems to be able to find a problem. I may be just clutching at straws now.

Another thing where did you buy the solenoid from. Is it original part.

It's a pierburg solenoid. Bought it online. Brand new.

I heard using non genuine parts can give trouble. Is that same as genuine.
Just trying to eliminate all the possibilities.

Yes, It's the same as the one it replaced. Which worked fine up until last month.

                          Yeah.

Worth speaking to a turbo specialist.

I think so yeah. May just take it to the main dealer. Their fault reader may probably know exactly what the issue is.
