  • Replaced air con condenser and seen this ?? Wise one needed to confirm.

After having to replace my air con condenser as it had sprung a leak--had it checked out and all the existing gas removed--once I had the bumper off and replaced the condenser I turned to the front bumper to check everything was in order and give it all a good clean down I noticed these flaps at the front on the bumper, are these controlled electrically and would they open and close dependant of temperature---any advice would be helpful------Dave

It’s the active aero they close to heat the engine quicker also reduces drag

Thanks Nick---I thought it was something to do with cooling the engine down and the emissions regulations that we have these days----Dave

You will need to remove the complete front bumper and disconnect the electricals, east enough to do--I had mine on ramps and that made the job easier-you will need to get the system vacuumed out to make sure its empty---and then its just a case of removing the condenser--you might have to remove different bits beside the condenser to enable you to unclip and lift the condenser out---its in its own plastic cage which just unclips---the condenser I bought was an NRF 35912 which comes complete with new seals and new bolts---if you go to VX they will charge you a fortune just for the seals---once everything is back in place you will need to tighten the gas connectors to 20NM--so not very tight---easy job to do just got to take your time------mine has been regassed and is working fine-----Dave
