  • 2009 Insignia 2.0t 216bhp turbo failure

    Hiya guys

Got a 2009 Insignia 2.0T 216bhp, remapped by Celtic Tuning in Devon to 275bhp.

Turbo died the other day. garage took turbo off and said its destroyed inside - starved of oil, they are weighing up whether it can be recon'd or not.

Anyone else had this problem? common fault on this engine? engine last serviced about 8k miles ago, car has only done 65k since new had full service history when I got it always at Vaux dealer.

Contemplating an upgraded billit wheel if I repair? yes or no?

    any info greatly appreciated.

    Cheers guys

Dont know much on petrols sorry.

But I would be checking what the oil feed is like.
The 2.0 diesels are known for oil supply problems due to the design.

But look at a new turbo feed pipe (decent garage would force you too replace anyway) and think of a new oil pump possibly after checks

As said above , new oil feed and return pipes required, also the IC and pipe work will require flushing out .
The life of a turbo dose depend on how the car is driven ( allowed to warm up and cool down after a run ) also with all those extra horses you may start thinking about upgrading the unit . ( money money money !)

            Ye sorry.

            Petrol engine

Ye turbo company has suggested before putting turbo back on:

            Flush engine with oil treatment
Take sump off n check for bits of metal from old turbo
            Flush oil pipes
            Fresh oil n filter

            Expensive
