It subtly lights up the door handle. Gives a faint red glow.

Aye I can go along with that. Still probably only cost them pennies when done in bulk. Something that could easily be recouped in the price of the sale.

Is a colour coded shark fin now a chargeable optional extra?

Slight aside but looks like going forwards the Peugeots and Vauxhalls will look rather similar if the new e208 and the new Corsa are anything to go by.....

Apparently Vauxhall had a new Corsa pretty much sorted but then when the PSA buyout went through it was scrapped and changed to look like this. Presumably they will share quite a lot of parts as well.

Facelift B due in 2020 will only have minor cosmetic changes - grille, headlights, slight remodelling of rear light clusters. Facelift replacement is reportedly likely to be on PSA EMP2 platform/drivetrain based on Peugeot 508 and/or Citröen DS 5.

THIS is an article talking about the future for Opel/Vauxhall models under PSA ownership.

one thing,... looks like the bmw style colour coded shark fin is to return!!

Seen here is a lesser version of the Insignia with traditional halogen bulbs, while full LEDs are available for the more expensive models in the range.

Wouldn't bank on it. I just think that changing from a full-size body-coloured Shark Fin to a weedy unpainted one is penny-pinching and a stylistic no-no.
