  • Rear Light Replacement - Electrical Connector Removal

    Hi,

First post so please be gentle. I'm replacing my outside rear light clusters (LED) and the connector is stiff as hell. It has a red sliding "lock" on it which I've slid back but the connector won't budge to remove it from the light.

Any ideas or tips and tricks, please? I've Googled for days and hence I found this site

Here you can see the red locking latch that needs to be pulled all the way to the rear/out:

Here you can insert something under the cover to lift the retaining latch inside the cover. There's a ramp latch inside the coupling. I chose a fork cos it's safe and allows you to insert horizontally and then rotate to hold the latch-up while you pull the two apart:

Viola, latch removed and you can see the "ramp latch":

Was just going to tell you about the locking tag---I had the same problem with mine--pleased you have sorted it out its that locking tab that makes you believe that once its pulled up it should release-----Dave

Thanks, Dave. It stumped me and I didn't want to just rag it out.

Thought I'd post pics to help anyone one else out in the future.
