A few of my old ones....

One of the Black ST200's I had... I did have both 0024 & 0036 at the same time, both Black ST200's. I've also had 2 White V6 Supertourings, A Vec B GSi (facelift) and the Mondeo ST24

Think this was at HMS some years back now.

This was my absolute baby... originally a V6 SRi, but changed pretty much everything possible over the years..
3.2 GSi transplant, Piper cams, Dastek Superchip, Enlarged TB, Knife edged plenums, Hi-Spec Monster 4 (4pot) brakes with AP bells & AP Rotors, I had a Vortec V9F supercharger, Omex 710 standalone engine management & I had an F28 6 speed gearbox fully rebuilt with a Quaiffe LSD, custom plates, custom pipework for the charger, everything ready to go in, but then had to sell the lot to pay for a messy divorce!! 100% gutted about that.. fu*king loved this motor.

One of the best cars I’ve owned was a hard decision. To switch to the insignia.

The only Vectras in our family were the "B" model and both of them were GLS, saloon shape.

First one was a white 96 GLS and it was really bad because the steering had no adjustment, so my dad would often complain about how his knees would bash the steering and then one day the belt tensioner started whining, so we took it to the dealer and they said that we were lucky to notice the problem before the tensioner went out and destroyed the engine. It was a common occurrence on Vectras at the time. The tensioner went bad at just 31,000 miles. The only good thing is that it was our first car with air conditioning, so we no longer had to sweat during summer trips; oh joy!

Second one was a silver 99 facelift GLS and it had the height adjustable steering column and I believe it had lumbar support, but I'm not entirely sure about the latter. Anyway, the height adjustable steering wasn't the ideal, but at least my dad no longer complained about knee bashing. The problems we had were the boot locking system that failed within two days of ownership... Ya Rly... And the passenger side window that would sporadically refuse to lift or open, so the dealer replaced the entire system under warranty. First car we had that had CD player.

My dad always complained about their poor fuel economy around town and the poor ride height. He got so fed up with the Vectras scraping every bump on the road that he hasn't bought another petrol car since 2002. Only diesel 4x4s.

My only contact with a Vectra C was in July 2008, with a black 07 Exclusiv 1.8 hire car. The car was only one year old and the passenger door squeaked like crazy, fuel economy was really poor (17 mpg around town! Granted the air-con was on all the time, but come on?!) and the performance was a joke. I dread to think how bad the Insignia must've been with the same 1.8 engine. Having said all that, it was a quiet smooth riding car. It just had the wrong engine, I suppose.
