As a driver of over 45 years, I used to roughly know my way around an engine compartment. The radiator and water pump at the front, four in-line block down the middle, spark plugs conveniently located at intervals along the block, carb(s) to right, and that was about it.
Since, oh I don't know, the 90s? we've got all the luxuries we want, power steering, Aircon, self adjusting doodlewhangers, and everything seems to be encased in plastic. Now when I open my bonnet the bits deemed 'important' by the manufacturers (screen wash filler, oil filler, maybe coolant header tank) are colour coded, the rest is just a sea of black plastic.
Does anyone have a schematic of the engine compartment of the Insignia B? It would be great to know what all those bits are for, even if you need an electronic diagnostic kit and a degree in mechanical engineering before you dare to tinker.
