      I actually got them out just after posting, the bar in the plastic was stuck on both sides but I got it free by pulling it open and then putting a flatblade down the inner part of the cylinder and just released the outer plastic then the pin was pushing against the flatblade and it just popped loose.

        I’ve just done mine now, soo easy when you know how. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this.

        I pulled my old one apart, see photo, just to see if it could have been done in situ.
        It was quite easy to rip apart and the clips cane apart ok without splitting or breaking.
        This could be an option for someone if they just ant to buy the leather bit off eBay and reupholster.
