    Hi Everyone.
new to the Insignia Owners club. Have had 2.0 CDI Ecotech for about six months and am experiencing electronic problems. Was out in the well known Scottish/Hawaiian town of Alloa and on returning to locked car, found that the key remote would not open doors. Tried manual door lock to find it did not operate either, though this set off Alarm. long story made short, called RAC who informed me , via Patrolman, that key battery or Car battery would cause this. Promptly despatched me to Timpsons for 2032 battery wwhich appeared to solve unlock problem. on entering car, got the error message ANTI THEFT DETTERENT SYSTEM. Followed instructions to disarm and off we went. a number of hours and stop/starts later, the car re-entered ANTI THEFT MODE And promptly shutdown the car completely. no dashlights no power Handbrake jammed on.
Had to be recovered to home where, the following day. fitted new battery to car, which it probably needed anyway. Car immediately started first time, all singing all dancing. a few days later, on entering the vehicle and proceeding to start, was presented with ANTI THEFT DETERRENT message again. Vauxhall Service Manager chappie says BCM or Keys problem. ANYONE SHED SOME ILLUMINATION???

    Welcome aboard dmb215
Have you tried the spare key ?
When error messages come up have you tried locking / unlocking the car again ? .
Is the battery holding charge ?
If not have you ever jumped it off a set of jump leads ?
If it's not holding charged check alternator output .
They sometimes go wobbly without warning .

                  Hi,
Some of the key fob batteries are rubbish, just because it's newly fitted doesn't mean battery is any good, poundland sell a pack of about a dozen mixed batteries, their are about 4 x 2032 batteries in, might be worth trying another battery.
A basic test for alternator, switch everything on in the car, turn fan to full speed, rev engine, fan will speed up if alternator is providing any sort of charge.

Thanks for replies folks. New batteries in both fobs and new battery in car. Fault intermittent and have car booked into Arnold Clark (heaven forbid) hoping that an investigation and reset might show any anomaly in programming. Door will not open manually with the keys so may be source of the "little blighter's" stroppiness.

Garage repaired drivers door central locking link to handle and seems to have solved the long /unlock fault which started it all off.
