Sorry if I sounded picky, that wasn't my intent. I just thought it would be nice to know what mods were on the entries (yeah, Russ, I'm sure that's a bog standard Siggy!)

Any insignia with a body kit goes in the modded cat. That includes factory fitted kits. The catergories were made to get more standard entries because members weren't bothering to enter standard against modded cars because modded usually attracted all the votes.

The only one in the modded catergory without a kit is m8dave55's but his has a modded badge and pearlescent fog light lenses.

TBH if only the pearlescent fog lenses were done on m8dave55's car I'd have probably let it in the standard category but I couldn't ignore the badge.

Wind deflectors are allowed in the standard category. Smoked repeaters not thought about but they're so subtle I'd probably allow in the standard cat too. I know its not perfect and there are so many variants but It's all I can think of to get members like Howy with his beautiful example of a standard car to enter the competition when the likes of Russ have entered.

The following in bold is an extract from the rules

Standard is what it says on the tin with the exception of VXRs, GSIs and factory fitted VX-Line kits. All will be included in the Modded group. (Wind deflectors and painted standard wheels are allowed)

Modded is anything added to the car or removed from the car i.e, lowered, after market wheels, Grills, wrapping, debadged, body kits etc...

We need to remember this isn't for a lottery win. It's for a bit of fun. I took over the mantle of running the POTM 3 or 4 years ago from Russ who'd had enough probably because of the lack of interest. It can be like pulling hens teeth some months but I persevere because it adds a bit of fun to the forum. Adding the categories has helped a bit but you still usually see me doing my daily beg over the course of entries week.

And please keep up the good work, Marko. Personally I really enjoy looking at the monthly submissions - the standard category shows how good an un-modded car can look when treated well, and the modded section can give ideas on whether a particular mod would work on my car. Or how amazing a car can look when taken to the extreme levels that Russ achieves.

It's a great feature of this forum, and I'm sorry if my off-the-cuff remark about subtle mods has been blown out of proportion. Long may the pic of the month feature continue.
