Hi all, my first HELP! post.
When I got the car last week I was given the hydraulic boot strut with a leak from the top gasket, and a standard strut in its place, so I picked up a replacement from eBay and got around to fitting it this afternoon, having plumbed it in, plugged the motor back in and put the boot trim back together I pushed the button.... it made a noise! And moved! A little.... then stopped.
There was a hissing sound, and having removed the motor cover and padding, it’s soaked in hydraulic fluid. Naturally, being inquisitive and brave, I pushed the button again with it all exposed and it’s leaking from both brass, clipped in, push fittings. Have I missed something when attaching these? Is there a seal to go in somewhere that I don’t have?
Following the fitting question, does anyone know how to top up the fluid and what fluid goes in? I can see in the frosted reservoir end that there’s not a lot left in there. Less than an inch when held vertically.
Cheers!
