  • Rear window fire

The heated rear window on my 2010 Insignia would not work the light worked but no de misting . I traced it to the module in the tailgate and found that round the terminals had been very hot and melted the unit . I replaced it with a new unit purchased from my local GM dealer at around £30 that was 14 months ago.

Yesterday while driving with the heated rear window on the tailgate burst into flames , I managed to open the tailgate before the wires burnt out and saved the car

Has any member had any thing similar ?

          Welcome.
i think the car may need a specialist,as setting on fire is never a good thing.

            Welcome!

Does the rear demister have the correct size fuse? It should normally blow before it gets that far >.<
(Obviously the problem will still remain, short circuit?)

Hi charlesw, I would be taking the car directly to Vauxhall for a full inspection. I'd even be asking for one of their mobile advanced troubleshooters to give it a once over.

After the Zafira fiasco I'd hope that Vauxhall would take it seriously and get straight on it.
