  • New member, insignia won’t start

Hi! I’m new to this so unsure where to post, I recently bought a insignia elite 2.0 diesel, done just over 100k had cambelt, alternator, water pump done, and a new battery fitted but the car just won’t start in a morning, once started it’s fine all day, left overnight it just doesn’t start, got in it at 7 this morning and still hasn’t started, tried to bump it, didn’t start....

Currently waiting to be towed to garage, any advice?

    Any replies appreciated, thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply, had call out and he said similar things, fuel maybe not getting where it should do, currently waiting to be towed, dreading the phone call from the garage.

Thank you for the welcome! Car is with the garage, they carried on turning it over and it fired into life, only error coming through diagnostics was a glowplug error, glowplugs are fine so think it’s a sensor, garage have done a road test left it for several hours and it fired back into life straight away, chosen to leave the car with the garage tonight so they can try to fire it up after it’s been sat for a whole cold night, bar the service error on the dash (glowplug sensor) there are 0 faults coming back through the test, mechanics are a little baffled.

I’m kinda hoping it doesn’t start for them in the morning so it can be investigated further and really sorted.

Welcome! I do not have a scooby about your issue, sadly.

Did you replace battery like for like? Does it have stop start? Could there be something draining the battery or is it possibly just fuel related?

When were the glow plugs last changed? Or have you checked them?

Hopefully the bill won't be high and you can start to enjoy the car

Garage is happy it’s not the glow plugs or battery, changed the battery to AGM, my elite I think is supposed to be stop/start (not 100%) I do have an AGM battery in it so should be powered enough? I’m not 100% what I’m talking about with these not had it long, just seemed to be having a few issues and I’m already deep with having cambelt, alternator, water pump done. Stressful times.

That's fine then, an AGM battery.

I'm not saying these are your issues

I've heard that the alternator is an intelligent alternator (I'm not sure if this includes non-stop/start cars)

I've also heard the battery needs to be coded to tell it it's had the battery changed. (I don't know if this is true or not)

Thanks for the info, I’ll pass this on to the mechanic in the morning, see before I had the AGM battery in, garage fitted one that just popped up with my reg, it’s me that noticed the “auto start/stop” on the dash, to which they put the AGM battery in, can’t remember it ever failing to start before the AGM battery, could be a very good call.

Similar to the other guys problem. Electrics are highly sensitive in the insignia.

People have had problems jumping it and losing their mileage they just get - - - - - - which is a result of a spike of voltage that hits the body control module.

Maybe if the garage cannot fix it then try an auto electrician.

                            Update:

Garage rang me about 10 mins ago, my car fired up first thing this morning without a problem, they cannot find the fault anywhere, So no fault = no repair, I’m a little worried as I’m going away for 10 days next week, cars guna be sat, guna get in touch with a Vauxhall specialist today maybe leave it with him while I’m away.

                            CONFUSED!
