Hi all,
Just bought my first Insignia last week, 2011 2.0 CDTI model. The rear window demister was working for a few days then stopped. Reading these forums I discovered a common fault was the aerial suppression filter overheating, so I checked mine and sure enough the part is melted on the negative end. I've ordered a new part, cost £15.
I tested both the cables that go into the filter using a multimeter and am getting a reading of 14v. The sheathing on the negative cable has melted near the terminal (about 8mm length in total), but the wires and the terminal themselves look fine. Should I cut the wire back and put a new terminal on? Or will it be fine to clean them and put some insulating tape around the exposed wire?
Am new to car electrics so thought I'd check here for some advice.
Thanks!
