  • Anyone made a DIY mesh grill?

    Hi Gents,

Has anyone made their own mesh front grill for the preface hatch using the aluminium "nets" you can get online? Or is there any reason why I shouldn't give it a go?

Some a$$*@!e tried to rip my grill off a couple of weeks back (they did a few other siggys in the area too, probably after the parts) and they've pretty much destroyed it. Missing badge, 3 chrome bars snapped...

Anyway, I've ordered some aluminium mesh as it's cheap as chips, and was looking for a bit of advice.

My current plan is to cut out the centre of my old grill and fill with mesh, keeping the chrome surround.

    Anyone got any input?

    Cheers,

    Nathan

Hello nathan, I always find it very inventive going down your own route and it's better because thaught has gone into it and it makes it stand out from the usual .
When I had my vectra Sri I purchased some black honeycombed mesh and made my own grill , I was pleased with the results.
Put some pictures up of it when done it may inspire others .

Sounds good, I have never tried it since I welded up a tubular grill for my brothers mk2 Escort. I was about 15 at the time..........it looked sh!t, but it wasn't long before he crashed it again so didn't last long!

There are some YouTube vids on custom car grills.

Sounds interesting, I’d be interested to see the finished product if you do give it a go. Just done a quick YouTube search and there’s a free app, customcargrills.com which may be worth downloading, it may be of some help. Good luck and let’s see some ‘how to’ pictures if you do it, [emoji1305][emoji1303]
