  • Cone induction kits

    Hi all!

Please don’t shout at me as I know they don’t add the 1000000 horsepower they promise but maybe in terms of noise?

I have the 1.8 Sri and she just sounds a bit sad and stretched, has anyone fitted a cone? Does it sound any better?

Not looking for the drone of a corsa with a wheelie bin attached to the back of it, just something a bit better

    Cheers

I fit a Pipercross foam panel filter once, it created a noticeable induction noise, more than a paper filter does. I wouldn't fit a cone filter as you need the air to be cold as possible and therefore more dense for performance. By keeping the panel filter you are still getting the cold air through the original ducting.

The cone filters can suffer from 'heat soak' from the engine bay unless protected.

Run a cold air feed front the lower grill / fog light area to the induction filter which will help out.

Drill holes in exsisting air box on the wing side low down ( negative side )
Hirsch use to charge £250.00 plus postage and packaging for the same effect , and that was an approved manufacturer upgrade .
Till someone did the same for £2.00 .
Gives a bit of induction noise if that's what you are after .

But, being the 1.8 petrol version, I don’t think heat soak will affect the car as much as it would a Diesel engine.

I'll also be running 2 cold air feeds, one from the center lower grill and another from inside the drivers side wing.

I had one on my 1.8 Vectra C.
I didn't do a lot of miles or very many long journeys at higher speeds and it sounded great.
So I never really noticed any difference tbh.

                        Go for it.
