Don’t use android but I’ve seen folk with iPhones getting their knickers in a twist over a similar option appearing in the privacy settings and ranting about it saying it invades their privacy etc, installed without them knowing etc all whilst ranting about it on Facebook and probably using google and WhatsApp which track you something chronic.

On the iPhone this is just a setting installed on the last update which folk have to do themselves and can only be activated if an app is installed to make use of it. It’s even disabled as standard.

... And yet, they'll sign away all privacy settings for a bonus round of Candy Crush, or advertise their house is empty by tweeting holiday photos! Why is everyone getting so worked up about being tracked? Unless you're in a sensitive job (I dunno, spy? MP?) does anyone really care what you've been up to?

Which is what I said in an earlier post .
Should be more concerned about which apps installed have access to microphone and camera etc. Has noone noticed with google, if you talk about buying something, the next advert you see is for that item [emoji23].
I have ditched WhatsApp, don't do social media etc etc. I'm halfway there with Google by having a huawei phone, but let's face it, both Google and apple make our lives easier most of the time, and to be fair Google tracking my movements has proved a point with work on more than one occasion [emoji23]

iPhone tracks to an extent so it can notify you of regular journeys etc. I get notifications for how long it will take me to get to work or home etc which is handy with CarPlay as you just start the directions straight from it.

I use Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp although not much then I use google for searching, Email, calendar and contacts on my phone. I know I’m getting tracked for various things but my life is easier using all these things so I just make do and go along with things. We’ve got an amazon echo as well to top things off...I’m not going to whinge about something I’ve installed though installing an update myself that currently does nothing.

Potentially need to be careful with Huawei even if you ditch google...dread to think what the Chinese are doing through your phone! 😉

I think it's more to the point what the Americans want you to think they are doing. No more than what Google or apple does in my eyes

Lets face it, that long T's and C's when you sign into any apple or google account which no-one reads will cover what they have done, as others have said, if the use is personal choice then whats the problem. I hate the fact I have chuffing Bixby I can't delete.

The mobile operators and government can track your location the second your phone is switched on and connects to the network, if you think it is an invasion of privacy, put your phone back in its box and flog it on faceache.

When I said in my earlier post "Big brother is watching". It wasn't that I care. I don't give a toss. Got nothing to hide so not bothered if they follow which sites I visit...what I say within microphone distance of my phone or where my GPS tracks me.

In fact it's good to know technology has my back. It's like having the perfect alibi.
