  • Air conditioning noise

    Hi all,

My air con makes a funny noise and I can't decide whether it is the air con itself or the engine but the noise does stop when I turn it off.

When I listen when the engine is idle it sounds like a groan and if you gently rev the engine it sounds like a cat whinning, my initial thoughts were the AC is a massive drain in the engine and it's the alternator as soon as I turn the AC off instantly stops.

I absolutely nothing about anything with cars etc and my guesses are probably completely wrong guidance from someone more experienced would be appreciated I'm talking it in tomorrow to be looked at and don't fancy been fobbed off.

    Thanks in advance

We're an easy going bunch on here and it's just protocol now that we ask new members or existing members who haven't done so, if they would do it.
Thanks for doing it, it's very much appreciated

I had strange noises from my Vec C aircon once. On investigation it was the aircon compressor seizing. It was causing the aux belt to slip making a groaning noise each time I turned it on. With the bonnet lifted it was easy to see and hear what was happening. If this is the csae with yours you may still be under warranty. If not stand by for further suggestions!

My car shares the same engine as yours and I can hardly tell the air con is on. It's pretty quiet.

If its supposed to be so quiet they shouldn't have any trouble identifying the cause I just hope I don't have to make several trips trying to get this sorted.
