  • ?30,000 Mini!?

£30k is nowt for a mini. Spec up a Countryman or Pacemen JCW and you hit 45k-50k easily. The hatch JCW specced will be mid 30s. Mini's aren't cheap and the build quality of them are up there with the best.

The New JCW Hatch will have upwards of 225bhp and 0-62 in under 5 sec. It all depends what you like. I've had a Countryman and the wife is on her second Hatch. She now has a new MINI One twin turbo 1.2. That'll give a siggy 160 a run for its money.

The new Cooper 1.5 twin turbo is as fast as the old Cooper S. The new Cooper S is a 2.0 197bhp pocket rocket. When the JCW finally makes an appearance it will be phenomenally fast.

Mate bought a Pug 208 GTi prestige and took delivery last week (wife's car). It's same size as the Cooper and has 201bhp. Booting it full throttle throws you into the seat on 1st, 2nd,3rd and 4th. Also wheel spins in 1st and 2nd. Extremely quick.

The seats in a standard Countryman are not comfortable at all. You need the Cooper S or leather sports seats to be comfortable. If you were looking at one for the Mrs then you'd be better going for a brand new Paceman at the moment as there are some brill deals going, plus they are at 1.9 APR meaning the monthly rate comes way down. Go into Harry Fairbairn Giffnock and ask for Emma Durnin. She's very good. Used APR sits at 11.8% which is just stupid.

One of Jezza Clarksons favourite cars. Plus the DSG box is superb. Unlike a lot of soft off roaders these actually can go off road.

The current hatch is BMWs first planned, built and engineered mini. The Gen 1 and 2 were original designs taken on as part of the buyout deal. Needless to say the Gen 3 is more solid, doesn't rattle and the new engines are peaches!

They have just opened the order books for the JCW. 231bhp pocket rocket. 0-62 in 6 seconds! Remaps are already available to push that figure up to 300bhp. Once you tick a few options the car will be over 30k. It's a enthusiasts car. You either love them and will spend that on one or you won't.
