  • Gear stick surround led tube lights how to

Just thought I would do a how to on the led tube lights I fitted to mine.
I bought 2x 30cm red led soft tube strips from ebay item number 161475396025,they come in othercolours.
I was unsure if you could cut these led's so I left them at the length they came as
Before I fit them I removed the plastic end caps,I then cut the rear of the strips where you
are meant to fit the plastic brackets supplied with the lights so they
would fit snugly in the surround

I then drilled two holes under at the bottom of the surround

Next I removed the gear stick gator and fed the wires and the tubes through the holes and ran
the wires to the 12v socket in the ashtray, you will need to remove the trim and ashtray and connect the black wire to black and the red wire to Yellow

All thats left to do is tuck the tube into the surround so the two tubes meet at the top, it
will be tighter at the top so it will hold the tubes and the bottom of the tubes will be held
by the holes so no tape needed

After all your hard work it will look like this and they also dim with the dash lights, photos
show it brighter than it is.

If you find these a bit too bright (like i did), you can order one of these

It save your last setting. I know you can dim the dash but its dim enough as it is.
Great idea, will be ordering one

I didn't drill the holes, I just cut the tube and put little bit transparent silicone on the ends. And fit the surround.
Hope all went well with fitting, I drilled holes as I was unsure if you could cut them but glad you found a easier way, any pics
