      That's what happened to my old Astra !! It was totally wrecked and I had to buy a new cover to replace it.

      it let me saw that these cover are just "clipped" (sorry, not sure with this word :-(??), no screws to pull it off. You need to insert a plate screw driver between the cover and the wing mirror body, and then gently try to remove the cover.

      IMO, start with the bottom of the cover. In case of damage, it will be less visible ...
