  • Driving pet hates. what are yours?

Inconsiderate parking...before moving recently we didnt have a drive and lived on a road just off a main road with a number of coffee shops etc. At weekends folk would dump their cars anywhere and whilst i'm not one of these that thought only i was allowed to park outside my house at the same time it annoyed me when folk would park on junctions or take up space for two cars with one. Then there are the delivery driver types that think that popping your hazards on means you are entitled to block a lane of the road or park on double yellows.

    Indication! The lack of it...

Roundabouts and what lane to be in...

    Fog lights....

Lane hogging on Dual Carriageway and Motorway...

HGV overtaking at 1 mph difference...

Driving at way under the speed limit...

Cyclists using main roads when there are cycle lanes to use...

    Inability to overtake...

Women fluffing their hair at traffic lights in the windscreen mounted vanity mirror

Reaction time at traffic lights, it ain't a drag race but some of us have jobs to get to...

Drivers that do not merge in turn when lane numbers reduce...

Drivers that cut you up then drive slower than you were...

Pretty much ^^^ these above, I spend hours on the motorways and peoples inability to read the road and traffic conditions.

Same here, I've just moved to a house with a driveway but before we parked on the street, not far from a train station & town centre.

People would come and park on our street - perfectly entitled to do so - but take up 2 spaces or park like complete retards, for no reason, completely disrespecting the residents and using up their only means of parking

A small selection of what we used to have to put up with around where we were when just in a short space of time when i started sending them to the @YPLAC twitter account!

This is my personal favourite...some old dear who was over at the hairdressers across the road. On returning to the car she reversed back into the junction to turn around and then flew off up the street barely missing a couple of parked cars as she couldnt move the steering wheel back straight fast enough!!

Forgot to add folk who park down the middle of two car parking spaces in car parks especially busy car parks.

Still has to be middle lane hoggers on motorways and I'll echo one from Topcat regarding merge in turn. Does my nut in.

Push bikes and motorbikes sneaking through gaps between cars in heavy traffic. I've had my mirrors whacked a few times from them doing this.

On a similar note I was crossing a two lane road one day with queuing traffic when a motorbike came up the inside of an arctic and hit me. Remarkably the only thing to end up on the floor was him and the bike at which point he got up and tried to blame me.

Truck drivers that move out to block the outside lane when the lane ahead is closing. We can all use it and you are supposed to merge in turn, not when the truck driver decides you can.

People who indicate to pull out into your lane on the motorway as your just about to pass them and then look at you gone out because you didn't practically emergency stop to let them in.

The middle lane hogs and even more annoying the outside lane hogs.

People who stare right past you instead of just saying thanks when you've let them out.

People who do 40 through 60 zones on country lanes then carry on doing 40 when it comes to a 30 zone in a village.

                I could go on!

Two which I think have been missed above:

                  1) people who think entry slip roads have a speed limit of 45mph rather than getting up to 70mph to make merging easier.

                  2) people who panic and slam their anchors on when they see flashing blue lights about half a mile behind.

God I hated the A14. Used to teach just outside Cambridge and travel the 14 to come home 6-7 times a year. I was there when the first installed the average speed cameras. Loved Cambridgeshire, hated the 14.

Get past and all clear FFS....

I hate to be learning to drive now. Loved driving back in the late 80s when the volume of traffic was 50-60% less. More fun, less risk! Not that I'm condoning driving like a tit but the back roads are my area were superb!!

people who after overtaking still hog the outside instead of pulling back in and then decide that they will just go a little slower
