  • What's your car history?

I've been driving around 26 years and had 8 cars. I thought it might be interesting to see what cars fellow Insigniasts have owned over the years. I'll start it off with my list.

    1 - 1988 Austin Mini 1000 - N reg (1974)??

    2 - 1990 Ford Cortina 1.6 L - V reg (1979)??

    3 - 1991 Austin Maestro 1.3 L - C reg (1985)

    4 - 1995 Ford Fiesta 1.3 L - L reg (1993)????

    5 - 2002 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Zetec - 02 reg (2002)

    6 - 2007 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Zetec - 57 reg (2007)??????????????????????????

    7 - 2012 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Active - 12 reg (2012)

    8 - 2014 Vauxhall Insignia 1.8 Energy - 14 reg (2014)

My most memorable car has to be the Mini. It was a total bag of bits but I loved it. I'll never forget that sense of freedom I felt, the first time I drove it on my own.

My favourite was the 2007 Mondeo Zetec. I was one of the first people in Hull to own one and wow it was a head Turner. My son still has it so I still get to drive it. It's 7 years old now but looks as good as new and has never had a single Issue. Still only 37k on the clock.

Least favourite was the Cortina. It had seen better days but money was short and we were tired of trying to fit a push chair in the back of the mini (back seat, not boot....what boot? Lol ) so rushed into it.

I'm loving the Siggy but have held off judgement for now because I haven't had it long enough. So far it's up there with the Mondeo though.

So in 26 years of driving Ive had 15 cars. Had the Escort 6 years and the Vectra 2.2Sri just over 3 years.

The shortest time I've had a car was 6 weeks (Shogun) and 9 weeks 320i MotorSport (rejected).

What car do I wish I still had? 2 of them. The Discovery and the Scirocco. For different reasons!

Blimey have to think on this one; in some order of ownership

First car was a Fiat 126 sport (black ice killed it)

          MG Montego (remember these)

Ford Cortina 2.0e (velor roof and full lenght sun roof, steering wheel out of a bus though)

Opel Manta GTE (ex opel test car so a few extra bits and tweeking, got my fist points on license with this one, well 9 )

Ford Sierra Ghia (loved this car, brought it because Wife just had baby daughter and needed a bigger boot for pram)

          Company Cars,

X2 fiesta's both Ghia's (owned one for two days before lady writ it off jumping a junction into me)

BMW 520 (drank fuel like a fish)

Peugeot 406 Diesel estate (massive boot)

          Peugeot 206 Meridian estate diesel

Renault Laguna (hated the seats and the heat matrix busted twice once all over wifes feet on way to holiday)

Renault Laguna Estate (see above, company only had these cars so we suffered for a few years)

Renault Scenic (brilliant for the family and so many cubby holes)

          Back to own cars,

Renault Megan (big arse one, nice drive but £££££ to fix) boot lip used to scalp you if you did not look

Toyota Rav4 VX D4D ( had this for over 10 years and put over 196k miles on it, passed every MOT and had a few issues but loved this car, only lost it this year in Spet to a bad flooding we had it got swamped and total write off Cat b :-( :-( )

And my present car now is a Insignia 2.0 CDTI SE 160

Just add in the wifes cars, These i also drove and paid for

          Peugeot 106

          Peugeot 206

Peugeot 206cc ( we only brought this becuase the cc roof was brilliant, never leaked once and great in the summer)

          Git good deals from Peugeot....

Mitsubishi Shogun Sport Warrior, her current car ( big Tonka toy, blacked out windows big comfy leather seats bags of space and room, use this to tow our horse box around, nice high up driving postion)
