As above ^^^
Same idea as the Ford set up. The lower grill has closable shutters.
In lower ambient temperatures, or when the engine is under a light load (cruising) and doesn't need so much cooling, the shutters close.
The idea is to reduce drag, and improve engine efficiency. Thus lowering emissions and improving economy.
Only fitted to post facelift cars as far as I know. Not sure if it is across the whole range.
