  • In need of some good advice - auto electrics

    guys

I fitted an android unit to my car.
ive been suffering from battery drain.

ive tried all the options of looking to see whats wrong.
I contacted Icebox auto in Liverpool and he said its the canbus box.

now.....ive stripped the lot out and ive put a test light onto the battery.
ive removed the negative from the battery, clipped the test light to the clamp and put the end onto the negative on the battery....the test light illuminates.

ive done the fuse test....remove them one by one.

when I removed fuse 2 from the glovebox, the light went out.
    book says BCM

has anyone got any info or advice on this as its getting me down now.

You need a good battery firstly, then draw test at battery, load will give you an idea of what it could be. Anything aftermarket I'd be starting with that, I've known led bulbs to create a draw...
While draw testing at battery pull each fuse and work from there.
Always allow car to settle when checking draw from per say 0.3a at first then drops to 0.1a, so I give each test about 1min at draw check stage..
Hope I make sense it does in my head pmsl

Remember all current passes though bcm so wouldn't be to worried had similar issue with Clio and thought it was the uch similar to bcm on vx.
My point is any lighting regardless how long it's been fitted for I'd check.
If it is the bcm, fault would be placed firmly at head unit upgrade..

I've got LEDs in my interior, reverse lights and fog lights.
But they've been in for 2 years and never had battery drain

Battery has been checked and is tip top.
Also had the alternator checked.... charges fine.

I hear you, boards can go bad with moisture.
Easy to check just pull the plug if no change move on, I only say this cause I've saw it many times, also free to check
