    Hello all

My first post on the forum.

I'm just about to buy a nice clean low mileage 2014 Insignia 2.0 Ecoflex stop/start - if all goes to plan, should have it in a couple of days. Quite a step up from my old Corsa D (and with a bit of luck will give me much better MPG, too).

I'm based in Northumberland, so I hope the demisting is good. Pretty chilly up here!

    Cheers

    Martin

Welcome bud, I'm not long out of the 'new owner' box myself.

      Welcome to the forum, Martin!

They demist quite well once you get the setting how you like it. Get some pictures on here when you get it!

        Welcome mate.

My other half has a corsa D and is currently looking to replace it as the mpg is crap!

          Thanks guys

Picked up the car yesterday - wow!

As an added bonus, it has advanced park assist. Dealer hadn't spotted that, so priced the car without it. Haven't tried it yet - compared to the rather sparse spec of my previous cars, park assist seems like some kind of black magic...

Yep, the Insignia makes my old Corsa D seem like a horse and cart. It's going to take me a while to get my head around all the controls.

My wife used to joke that most of the old sheds I've owned were worth less than the stereo and speakers I fitted in them. That's possibly true in some cases! I'm quite impressed by the stock audio system, though the top end gets quite hard and tinny at high volume levels. I'll try messing with the tone controls, but I foresee a little tinkering on the horizon. I have a decent pair of component speakers and an active sub in my old Corsa, so might transfer them across. Only downside is that the stock head unit in the Insignia (I fitted an aftermarket one in the Corsa, but that was less hassle than the Insignia is likely to be) lacks RCA outputs, so I'll need to use the high level inputs on the sub. Fitting an amp (I have a meaty Sony one in the Corsa) for the front speakers will likely prove complicated too - and I'm reluctant to start removing door panels from a car that basically looks brand new (I'm a bit of a bodger). We'll see what happens. If there's a forum member close by (I'm in Northumberland) who knows about fitting speakers, I'd be keen to get in touch. If you know of anyone who might help me out (in return for for a few quid, of course) please let me know.

I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of MPG I get - mine's an ecoflex stop start with quoted MPG of 76 average. In a pig's eye, of course, but it'll certainly prove more economical than the Corsa.

I'll get some pictures up soon.

Be prepared for a lot of 'what does this button do?' type questions...

          Cheers

          Martin

While browsing the forum, I've noticed something strange - a lot of threads seem to be missing the first post, so the first post in the thread appears to be a response to an original post which is no longer there. Does that make sense?

Is it just me, or do I have my forum settings in mess?

              Cheers

It does make sense. When the new Site Admin migrated the old forum threads over to the new forum, we had to seek permission from the old member's to use their posts. Any who failed to answer or give permission. Their posts had to be removed.
