Another thing that can stop it working is the bonnet. Mine wasn't working when I first had the car, some research came up with that suggestion. It wasn't showing open on the dash but I gave it a good slam and the stop start worked at the first junction from the house.

This will be interesting because the battery is the same size as a Fridge Freezer!
I wonder how much difference between dealers and Europarts etc.
Gonna cost either way, mine will be due soon I guess on a 12 plate.

If I drive into town I turn it off, maybe I don't trust it ?
I,m with you on that one and as happy as larry when i found out my car does not have it being an Auto. Wife had merc slk for last 5 years and it was horrible it stopped 3 to 4 times while she squeezed it throu the garage doors also in traffic there was no such thing as a smooth set off.

I find it a total waste of time and just a gimmick to keep the environmentalists happy. In mine I hardly use it because I tend to sit with my foot on the clutch in traffic ready to pull forward as traffic moves. When I do rest my foot and s/s does kick in, I find it starts quick and drives off smooth though.

The worst one I drove was and auto Bellingo at work. Every time you stopped with your foot on the brake the s/s kicked in and when you lifted off the brake to set off it would start again but there was a couple of seconds delay before the car moved off. Very dangerous at somewhere like a roundabout.

I have a 64-plate Insignia currently on 25k miles so not used a lot. The start/stop stopped working and I knew this would be down to the battery charge. This has taken several long runs over the last 3 weeks to get the battery charge to a level the start/stop has started to work again. Now everything fine........until the charge drops through not being used again.

All good now, thanks to a new battery from "Halfrauds" (not usually my prefered vendor of car parts!). But after shopping around, this one at £184 (with 4yr. guarantee) seemed to offer the best value. It's done the trick anyway! Thanks again for all your advice.
Get a car battery check, buy a replacement car battery and have it fitted at Halfords or at home. Buy online or in-store!

I had this and got garage to check the amp output as it still showed 13volts when tested with a multimeter. Found out that the battery was meant to push out 800cca and it only was giving 420cca new battery problem done
