    Help needed...Gearbox

    Hi all, I'm new and not to sure if I'm posting in the right place so I do apologise if I'm not.
    I have an 11 plate diesel automatic Insignia. Going from reverse to drive the car jerks. Took it to the garage and they've quoted me £2000 for the repair to the gearbox (I could of died).
    Is this price what I should expect?
    Would really appreciate any useful advice or tips.

    May just want a fluid change

        Maybe a few mote details of your car may help.
        and getting a jerk from reverse to forward resulting in a 2 grand charge,is there any other issues?

          It occasionally makes a humming noise when driving appart from the jerking it seems to be okay. It's done just under 60k. Had an electrical diagnostic also today (cost me £90) and there was no problems with that.

                        When you say you have taken it to a garage would that be Vauxhall dealer ?
                        I would suggest maybe looking for a specialist Automatic gearbox place to take it too

                          I have a 15 plate auto 30,000miles,it jerks as well.Phoned a gearbox garage first asked any warning lights if not can’t help.Asked for oil change that will be £100.Mine only does it when very hot in town stop and start traffic. Started going into N when weighting at lights etc

                              Do you press and hold on to the foot brake while changing from reverse to drive?
