I get that, but clouds of grey blue smoke? Keep thinking "are my turbo seals leaking? Injectors overfuelling? DPF pressure sensor faulty? ....when it first starts it's fine, quiet, responsive, smooth, no smoke, but as soon as it reaches operating temp the smoke starts, switch it off and fans cut in, but no overheating or mechanical issues ? .....thing is ...would a regen cause this kind of smoking.

Possible your exhaust temp sensor at fault,a few have suffered this.

Yes, i did replace that a few weeks ago, had dpf taken off car and professionally deep cleaned, cleared all codes and put dpf readings back to day 1 ....all good for around 300 miles, perfect, drove like new, then this message and smoke started ....would a motorway run for say 20 miles help ? Worth a try i suppose ?

Yes a good run will make sure it completes the cycle,do you do a lot of short runs?

A little mod with an led in the door tweeter will tell you when it's regenerating,a few diesel members have done this,a good tell tale.

Thanks for your input, but I'm kind of sceptical, it really shouldn't be smoking this much, and a terrible sulphurish, acrid smell from exhaust, no codes either or dash warning lights ....where do you start ????

I'd get it to temp and take it for a good run and see if it clears.

I drove it for a 40 mile round trip on M40 yesterday at 70mph in 4th gear, drove without smoking for around 10 miles, then suddenly started smoking again for around 2 miles, then stopped again for another 10 or so miles, finally looped back and as i came into town blue / grey smoke and strong diesel / sulpher smell again ? Continued home and again smoke stopped completely ....message didnt go away and engine fans running at full blast when i stopped, but engine not in the least hot and running smooth and quietly ..... driving me mad !!

If you look at top consumers when its smoking if its doing a regen it will say rear window on the display if you have it selected off you know its doing a regen.

Sorry, window off? ....mine is 2014 facelift model with digitised dash etc: just says the "must continue driving" message, nothing about rear window. I'm pretty certain its not worn piston rings, or failed turbo seals, injectors overfuelling etc: because its very intermittant, can be perfectly smokeless for miles, then suddenly start billowing blue / grey smoke out of exhaust, only to abruptly stop again in a few miles, when i stop engine fans are running at full speed, but engine perfect, quiet, and not overheating in the slightest..... very confused.

Has had new genuine Exhaust Temp Sensor, DPF removed, deep cleaned, refitted, DPF codes reset back to start. After this drove for next 300 miles perfectly until the smoke and message appeared again ....also had MOT done at same time, where the emissions were so clean they hardly registered on the MOT smoke meter, way within permitted values? .... shame because lovely looking and driving car.

Have just had ECU and DPF reset to "Day 1 or New DPF, ......smoking immediately gone and whisper quiet and pulls like a train, and so it will, for about 2/300 miles, and then we will be back to billowing smoke, engine fans running full blast, Turbo lag etc etc etc; .....Bye Bye Vauxhall, never again .......
