  • Underseat sub

Ok so I mounted my underseat sub in the boot on the back of the seats.

Tonight thought I'd turn the gain or whatever it is up a little as it's been over the thirty hours bedding in period. Sounds great, can feel it vibrating my seat even from the boot.
But I touched the bottom of the unit, geesh red hot, I mean can't keep my hand on it for more than 1 second. That's after only 20 minutes of use, it powers down with ignition etc.

Is this normal? Quite worried now as the bottom which is the hottest actually rests on the boot carpet.

Cables are cool, rest of casing is cool, just the bottom, must be where the amp is, more I turn it up hotter it gets, does same with volume. It's not even half way. Still not comfortable .

Yes should be normal with most amps. That area is the heat sink after all. You could do what I am going to do and that is to hook a computer fan (12cm?) to the remote wire and the negative and whenever the sub turns on the fan starts spinning to help cool it
