So providing no one on here has lost the will to live here's an update!! Im going to take my car to a garage I used to use who is a registered Vauxhall/Opel specialist. He has all the diagnostic tools (the other garage has not) and a piece of software called (i think) opcom. Anyway its a specialist opel/vauxhall bit of kit he can plug into the car and it should, when the headlamps are activated tell him if and where the problem lies. He isn't prepared to give me any diagnostics over the phone and without seeing the car and is happy to do this for me at no charge, then and ONLY then will we go about tackling the problem. He was very surprised the original mechanic didn't go firstly for the relays. I actually called my main dealer to see if they could supply me with the relay i require and they said it was a very unusual part to go wrong and they would have to order it in especially!! Twaddle!! There are at least 4 relays in the fuse box with the same part number on them. The car is going into this garage on Monday for a full fault scan and I shall take it from there. I should add this mechanic is also a Renault service specialist too and used to look after my (AWFUL) renault laguna!! So...here goes nowt!! Watch this space

I'm glad you are keeping us up to speed main because it may help others with the same kind of fault.
And yes opcom will be able to activate modules and give live data read outs
But many thanks for seeing this through to the end and writing all you have
It helps others , which is what forums are all about.

Goodness me! Isn’t life “interesting “. Today I was forced to consult the garage I am using again and had my car booked on on Monday. I say forced...because I flashed my full beam briefly this morning and I stuck on full. I pulled the fuses but when I put them back the lights came on even with the engine off so I pulled the fuses and went straight to the garage. We had an hour and every diagnostic known to man on the car. The BCM is fine. The relays are fine. The ECU is fine. But the fuse box is showing some corrosion where the 2 high beam fuses plug in. I’ve got another coming from EBay for £20. Just in case it’s the fuse box. The mechanic was brilliant! I don’t know why I ever started using the other garage!! So we’re going to chance the fuse box and take it from there. Meanwhile I’m driving my beloved Siggy with no main beam...watch this space...AGAIN!
