  • How To Disable/Enable EHB [Without Scan Tool

    Found this on another forum so might help all of us with EPB in our cars------Dave

    1, Block Drive Wheels.
    2, Turn Ignition To the Run Position/Engine must be OFF,
    3, Place Gearstick/Park in Neutral,
    4, Press and hold Brake Pedal--Keep pressed down through this process,
    5,Press and HOLD down the EPB Switch for approx. 5 seconds,
    6,Observe the Park Brake Lamp on the Cluster and when the Park Brake FLASHES then Immediately Press and Release the EPB Switch, The Parking Brake Tension is now Fully released.
    7, Release the brake pedal----you can now carry out any work needed on the rear brakes.


    How to Enable Without Scan Tool.

    1, Block Drive Wheels,
    2, Turn Ignition To The Run Position/Engine must be OFF,
    3,Press and hold Brake Pedal,
    4,Place Gearstick in Neutral/Park,
    5,Momentarily Lift the EPB switch to Apply the EPB,
    6,Momentarily Press Down the EPB to Release the EPB,
    7,Repeat steps 5 and 6 to cycle the EPB ON then OFF an additional 4 Times,
    8, The EPB Module will now be calibrated and correct tension will be applied to the Parking brake cables
    9,Release the BRAKE Pedal and your done.

    Good find. Will come in handy for a lot of people on here I would say.
    LED interior lights. Chrome mirror caps & door handle covers. LED reverse light bulbs. Pedal box. Atomic Alloys. Steel Structure spare wheel. Boot floor risers. Rear exit exhaust & rear valance. M Y ‘15’ front grille.

      Yes my thoughts too after just replacing the rear pads, you can do it if you want if you have the correct diagnostics but this way is a lot quicker - - Dave

          Good idea as it will probably go missing down the line and members can’t find then.

              Does this work on the grand sport, had mine plugged into 3 different machines today and none of them would allow rear caliper rewind.

                  Hello, I have a Vauxhall Insignia SRi 2017 Grand Sport and have been told that the car has to be plugged in at a garage for the ecu to work while changing the brake pads. The reason I have been told for this is, that I won't be able to push the brake piston back using a proper tool for the job. As the car needs to be plugged in

                    Hi Dave brilliant posting but had me confused until I read further in your post

                    The confusing bit was EHB in the Title, is it possible to amend to EPB ?

                          Oh my well asking any stealer u always get the answer scan tool needed = $$$

                          Please where does it describe how to deactivate it? U can't is just release it and key out and don't fiddle with the doors or trunk make sure especially while someone has their fingers in the breaks thanks.

                          only confusong is some say some has left hand thread and some has right hand thread why I dint get it should be the same on all the insignia but of course LEFT Side driving countries could be different else no

                          Any one?

                            Right at the top first post tells you.
                            or others have just done the change as you would a normal handbrake, just chock the front wheels repese handbrake, and everything undose like normal bolts .no opposing threads on the bolts .
