battery replacement

Hi everyone! Just looking for some advices!
How safe is it (electronically-wise) to replace the battery by myself?
I am afraid to replace the battery and ruin something on the car. I was asked 260 and above £ to replace it (battery cost included) by local garages.
If there is no harm for the car I can get it cheaper online and do it myself
