Next to the exhaust manifold on the right hand side of the engine you will see a black, plastic case, that is the EGR cooler & it is extremely common for them to split. You might not see a puddle, mine sprayed over the manifold causing steam so no puddle. I paid ?32.40 for the part from a VX dealer & my mechanic mate replaced it for ?50 but having watched him it is an easy enough job to do although a bit fiddly.

You might not get it if it isn't spraying (only does it under pressure & not a lot of steam). The EGR cooler will be wet if it is split so get your hand in the gap and check.
