How to Root Tesla Style Android Aftermarket Unit 10.4” inch (Customizing)
First of all: Perform actions on your own risk, I can not be held responsible for bricking your device,
which becomes possible after rooting.
What is Rooting?
All Android devices are locked so only play store apps can be installed. We as basic users cannot change anything,
only the things the manufacturer wants us to change. You have to be “Superuser” to have access.
Why Rooting?
Specially this unit is customized by the reseller and totally locked, so nothing is changeable.
For example, the video and online music apps, you cannot even remove the shortcuts .
The basic sound is crappy, as if you where in a bathroom listening to music with max treble. (in default music app everything is ok, but in for example Spotify it is very bad).
Rooting helps us to install apk’s (apps from other websites and not the play store) to take full control of the system, customize it and have all advantages possible.
Actual Rooting Manual
First most important step is Rooting the unit.
There are a ton of “one click” root apps, which the majority will not work or brick your device!
Because there is so less info about this unit it is very dangerous to “try” something because the less people has the unit,
more difficult it becomes to “restore” it when something goes wrong.
But with the help of people on XDA Developers, it’s working now [emoji4]
Step 1:We are using KingORoot for it (very populair app is KingRoot, do not use it, it will not work!)
Step 2: Copy the apk to your device, best way to do is install Dropbox on you phone en install Dropbox on your unit,
this is the fastest way of transferring files and there is no easier way.
Download Link Kingoroot.apk: https://www.mediafire.com/file/t2xlo.../KingoRoot.apk
Step 3: When you found the APK on your unit in the Dropbox app, click it and choose install. After that open the app off course.
Step 4: Be sure on the Bottom the checkbox is enabled with “install recommended app” and click on “One Click Root”
Step 5: When all went good it says Root Succeeded, Go to the Playstore and download and install “root checker basic” and open it,
Do the root check and verify you get a message that you have root access.
Step 6: Go to the apps and see there is a new program called “Super User”, click it.
In this app you can remove normal apps/system apps, enable and disable boot programs/ clean up/boost system etc.
All the good things we couldn’t do.
Congrats! Your device is rooted, the real fun begins now.
Do I have the same unit as you? You have to check the Build.prop file, this is the only way to now the REAL data and not what the manufacturer wants us to believe. Build.prop is located at \system\ partition and can be opened with es file explorer. Look at the pics down here for info of the unit.
