Solicitor has scheduled a call tomorrow morning, will update on proceedings.
In the meantime, I'm back driving my Astra. Safe to say, I'll never grumble about it again. Just glad to a have a functioning car for now, even if it does have death rattles!...

Usual spiel like "you have to get it to us at your cost" even though the car isn't drivable. "you have to give us an opportunity to fix the issues before we will accept you returning the car" which even I know for a fact is nonsense.
The manager who I dealt with conveniently...

So the dealership are being deeply unpleasant.
After calling to complain that the car was faulty already undrivable, and that it was down to them to mend it rather than dip into my warranty, they got very defensive and patronising, started quoting their rights as a dealer etc.

Forgive me if I missed that on another post mate, I wouldn't deliberately ignore advice offered freely.
Now the dust has settled a bit and talking it over with the wife, it is likely we will tell them to rectify the car to an acceptable standard.
As you say, small mercies...

Thanks for the input guys.
Dealer manager is calling me back in the morning.
My wife brought up your valid point that any used car could do the same. We love this car and it suits our needs perfectly, so before making any decisions we're going to see what the dealer has to...

Mr AA confirms it is indeed the CSC.
I am absolutely livid. There is no way the dealer wasn't aware of this issue. Waiting for a call back from them, I am returning the car.
I could perhaps overlook the fact it needed a good run to clear the adblue/dpf messages but this is...

Developments.
After trawling the forum I noticed a few posts about starting on cold and change of gearbox oil.
So I let her idle for a while and low and behold, I can now change gears. Its still clunky and not as smooth as yesterday but its mobile.
Drove round...

Heartbroken, to say the least
So I've gone out to the car this morning and she won't go into gear while the engine is running. I'm devastated. I'm due to be going to Norfolk in the morning with the kids!
If I take the handbrake off, clutch down and gently push into a gear, it'll roll forward a little. So I'm assuming...

Interesting. I never knew this. Was always advised needs to be 4th gear, high revs etc. That makes life a litter easier than driving like a grandad on the motorway then!...

Well she's home! Had good rag for the 30 or so miles back to mine. Performance is eye-opening if I'm honest. Wonderful to drive, yet oddly familiar to my astra at times.
Annoyingly, the regen/def message still hasn't cleared despite the Italian tune up on the bypass. A good 25 mins in 4th...

Hmm. Educate me... I'm out of my depth when comes to cars, so hard to get and expensive is a little lost on me. What sort of cost we looking at?
And it has the leather seats, which I'm not usually a fan of but these were lovely.1 Photo

And this is why I love forums! You beautiful man.
That's music to my ears, thank you. Leads me to next question; timing chain or belt? Conscious of keeping an eye on timing belt change intervals.
The colour is honestly stunning, looks so good in the flesh. And I didn't even...

It does indeed have heated seats and steering wheel. Parking sensors too. Luxuries I am not used too! Even the DAB radio will be a nice treat. Kids are excited for their centre seat armrest and cupholders, and the rear vents are a nice touch.
It was listed as the 167bhp, so I'm assuming...1 Photo

I return with news...
So the initial car I went to view (2018 Sports Tourer) turned out to be a crock. Not as described on the advert at all. Damage to the front plastic grill, and an obvious scuff on the bumper. Associated misaligned panels. Long key marks along the driver side bodywork....

Aight sweet, thanks for that!
It's through a local dealer so not a million miles way if I need to chase anything post - sale.
Driving to Norfolk for a holiday with the family on Friday so will be put through it's paces then....

Thank Langey, that's music to my ears.
As you say, I'm not expecting VXR performance, but after suffering with that astra for so long, I was determined it's replacement would be up to the job, and it sounds like it'll manage it beautifully.
I'd seen about the importance of...

Thanks for the input guys.
Indeed Lizzard-t, I'm not expecting blistering performance when the car is loaded up, just enough to keep up with the flow of traffic and make it up steeper slip roads! I live in the Chiltern so hills abound!
I had seen the weight is significantly...

Fair comment. Reserved it for a drive on Monday so fingers crossed.
Reckon they'd let me rock up with 4 suitcases

Making sure it has enough poke!
Evening everyone.
I'm on the hunt for an Insignia to purchase, and I've found one I like the look of.
2018 Sports Tourer with the 1.6 Turbo D Ecotec in it. It's the lower power version of the engine (108bhp).
For the most part, I'm not lugging loads of stuff...
